Safe Management of Production (SMOP) 1 Day Course

Minimum of 8 people, maximum of 12 people

The Production Safety Passport (PSP) is an approval scheme, accredited by ScreenSkills, part of this industry wide training is the ‘Safe Management Of Productions’ course. The PSP scheme approves basic up to senior management level courses in a variety of key areas of the film and TV sectors, such as production, stunt training and location management. Each approved course is assessed against the relevant National Occupational Standard (NOS) in Health & Safety X2, X3, X3.5 and X4.

* This course has been accredited by the Production Safety Passport (PSP) scheme as industry-standard, high-quality and widely-recognised health and safety training. Upon successfully completing this programme, you will gain a PSP certificate via the ScreenSkills website which employers can use to verify your level of training.

Working at Height Safety 1 Day Course

Minimum of 8 people, maximum of 12 people

This course provides attendees with a thorough awareness of the risks and requirements involved when working at height. The course provides theoretical knowledge, practical experience of the relevant skills and an understanding of the safety equipment required. The course includes a PowerPoint presentation and practical elements such as how to correctly wear and use a harness.

Subjects include; Relevant legislation, Work restraints, Types and uses of knots, Selecting suitable anchors, Suspension trauma and syncope, safe use of ladders.

Fire warden with Extinguisher Training 1⁄2 Day Course

Minimum of 8 people, maximum of 12 people

This course gives awareness to attendees for the dangers of fire in the workplace, in studios and at home. The course can be tailored specifically to your team and premises and is run by experienced firefighters. The course includes a PowerPoint presentation followed by practical elements – therefore it requires a suitable outdoor space with is 4m from any buildings, cars, etc in any direction and is large enough for all attendees to witness the practical.

Subjects include; Identifying hazards and control measures, Duties of a fire warden, Signs and causes of fire, Raising the alarm, Classes of fire, Fire risk assessments, smoke alarms, escape plans, information to gather for the arriving fire service, Using fire extinguishers.

Manual Handling 1⁄2 Day Course

Minimum of 8 people, maximum of 12 people

This course aims to give people an understanding of how Health & Safety affects the creative media and events industry. The course can be tailored specifically to your production, team and premises.

Subjects include; Overview of H&S law and regulations, Examples of key acts and regulations, Risk assessments, Venues and locations, Contractors, Construction, set builds and CDM, Fire safety, Emergency services, Automotive events, Stunts and dangerous activities, Working with children, Drones and UAV’s.

Emergency First Aid at Work 1 Day Course

Minimum of 8 people, maximum of 12 people

This course aims to teach attendees how to recognise and administer first aid to a casualty that has various conditions including: eye injuries, allergic reactions, fractures and diabetic episodes. In addition, attendees will have training on performing CPR. The course includes a PowerPoint presentation and practical elements such as bandaging and performing CPR on a resuscitation doll.

Subjects include; Wounds and bleeding, Eye injuries, Poisoning, Mild and severe allergic reactions, Choking, Asthma, Fainting, CPR, Fractures, Dislocation, Head Injuries, Concussion, and Seizures.

Level 1 Health & Safety Awareness Training Course For Probationary & Full Stunt Performers

Working in partnership with the British Stunt Register, MSS created a ScreenSkills accredited course for trainee stunt performers embarking on their career in the Film and TV industries. This bespoke course enables probationary stunt performers to work safely on a Film and or TV set using anecdotal evidence and stunt related safety knowledge and understanding that we developed alongside the BSR committee.

We are incredibly proud of this course that we run bi-monthly either on-line or in person at Pinewood Studios since 2018.
